Mendelssohn, Mozart and Haydn

The Upper West Side’s stellar ensemble, the Riverside Orchestra, performs three classic pieces at Trinity School in their Friday, June 16 concert, at 7:30pm. Opening with Felix Mendelssohn’s lyrical overture “Son & Stranger,” the orchestra is joined for the ever-popular Flute & Harp Concerto by Mozart.  Our two soloists, Anna Urrey (flute) and Ashley Jackson (harp) are young artists of brilliant talent in the New York area, and also frequent chamber music partners.

The concert features Haydn’s Symphony No. 101, nicknamed “The Clock” after its charming Andante second movement. The symphony exhibits Haydn’s great humor and inventive compositional skills, and was one of the twelve written for the famous public concerts in Haydn’s highly successful London visits.
