Season Opening Concert

Our concert opens with Fauré’s vivacious and charming Masques et Bergamasques Suite.  Commissioned by the Crown Prince of Monaco for a short entertainment, we follow it with the energetic and lively Dance Intermezzo of Sibelius, with its expressive woodwind solos, and even with castanets, a Nordic mood!

We’re proud to welcome special guest soloist, Vladimir Tsypin, from the New York Philharmonic, to perform two highly romantic pieces for violin and orchestra.  Together we’ll perform Tchaikovsky’s melancholic Meditation, as well as the New York premiere of “Whispers of Love” by Italian-American composer Anthony Scarmolin, which Mr. Tsypin has recorded with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra for Centaur Records.

We'll play the first five of the "Legends" by ever-popular composer Antonin Dvorak, containing a range of sumptuous orchestral sound and Slavonic energy in its brief twenty minutes.  This is a Riverside concert not to be missed!
