Schedule
The Riverside Orchestra’s opening concert for the 2008-2009 season will take place on November 7, 2008, at Public School 84, 32 West 92 Street at 8:00 PM sharp. Trinity School is remodeling their auditorium and it is not currently available. The concert will feature the clarinetist Steve Hartman of the NYC Opera and the Brooklyn Philharmonic. He will play the Weber Clarinet Concerto No 2. The orchestra will begin with the Sibelius Valse Triste and conclude with the Schubert Symphony No. 4. Steven Mosteller will conduct. The concert will be followed by our usual party for all ticket holders. This unique New York experience includes a sit-down buffet (pizza, pasta, meat balls, juice, fruit and wine). Our convivial party completes this great musical evening in grand style.
Our next concert will take place on December 12 at PS 84. The concert will feature the pianist Victoria Mazin (now Victoria Schwartzman) who performed the Schumann Piano Concerto with us so beautifully last year. For this appearance she will play the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 1 The orchestra will open with Mozart’s Impresario overture and conclude with Brahms’ Variations on a theme by Haydn. Zachary Schwartzman will conduct.
This notice will serve for both concerts. Please mark the second concert in your calendar.
Your financial support helps the Riverside Orchestra continue to exist. We urge you to become a patron: $25 makes you a Friend, $50 a Contributor, $100 a Donor, $250 a Supporter, $500 a Sustaining Member, and $1,000 a Benefactor.
To attend, send a check for $12 for each ticket. Checks must be payable to the Riverside Orchestra. (At the door tickets will be $15). Mail your ticket order, with a stamped self-addressed envelope, to Dr. Ephraim Rubin, 24 West 96th Street, New York, NY 10025. Children will be admitted free.
